Touching Tips

Touching Tips is an exploration into functional furniture, rethinking mundane household objects that are taken for granted. At the end of 2020, Marta, a gallery in Los Angeles, presented "Under / Over". The exhibition brought together a global group of artists with the prompt to redesign the toilet paper holder in form and/or function.

In partnership with PlantPaper, Marta hopes to redefine our relationship with bathroom tissue by using art and design to open a dialogue around the business and politics of TP. According to Marta, 29% of toilet paper sold in North America is manufactured by a subsidiary of Koch Industries. By proxy, purchase supports voter suppression efforts and the Prison Industrial Complex, compounding toilet paper manufacturing's horrible environmental impact.
